Haddonfield native named assistant swim coach at Washington College

Washington College men’s and women’s swim has a new assistant coach — Emily Rollo of Haddonfield.

Washington College head men’s and women’s swim coach Matt Harris has announced the hiring of Emily Rollo as the teams’ new assistant coach. Rollo was a standout swimmer at Washington and Lee University.

Rollo spent the past two summers as the head swim coach at Woodcrest
Swim Club in Cherry Hill. She swam scholastically for Haddonfield
Memorial High School and the Jersey Wahoos Swim Club. She is a
native of Haddonfield.

While at W&L, Rollo was a seven-time all-American and 18-time Old
Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Champion. She qualified for the
NCAA Division III Championships as a sophomore, junior and senior
placing as high as fifth in the nation in both the 100- and 200-yard
backstrokes. She was twice named the ODAC Swimmer of the Year in 2015
and again in 2017.She was tabbed as her team’s “Most Valuable Swimmer” three straight years. She finished her career as the school record-holder in
the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke and 200 individual medley and as a
part of the school-record 200 and 400 medley relay teams.

“Emily brings a wealth of competitive experience from a very strong,
Division III swim team in Washington and Lee,” Harris said. “The
team she helped build around her throughout her career is a testament
to her leadership abilities, and we are excited for her to bring a new
perspective to our teams as we enter the 2017–2018 campaign.”

Rollo graduated from Washington and Lee with a bachelor of arts in economics and a minor in Latin American and Caribbean studies in May 2017. She was a W&L scholar-athlete recipient during her junior and senior season.
