Central Elementary School is Partnering with BookSmiles to gather gently used childrens’ books for underserved children in south Jersey.

With support from Principal Shannon Simkus, parents and teachers have really come through for this event – collecting over 1000 books so far (and still counting). Even more books are coming in from school librarian Jessica Miller.

BookSmiles is a locally run non-profit foundation, that gives children in South Jersey the chance to build personal libraries by distributing gently used books. The books are distributed free, and the children can’t wait to get them. It’s amazing how much of a thirst for reading these kids have – all they need are the books.
