A 47 year-old Williamstown woman was arrested by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office on Friday, May 4, on insurance fraud and tampering with records charges in connection with a falsified invoice for repair of water damage that was submitted to the Comcast Corporation, Prosecutor Charles A. Fiore announced.
Her submission was to support a claim that a Comcast technician’s work in her home involved disconnection of a basement sump pump. A subsequent rainstorm flooded the basement, causing $14,470 in damage that required $2,618.96 in water and mold removal work, the claim stated. The woman submitted an invoice for that amount from a firm she identified as In Too Deep, of Kearney, NJ. No such firm exists.
The Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, insurer for Comcast, referred the claim to the GCPO, which investigated in partnership with the New Jersey Office of Insurance Fraud Prosecutor. Investigator for the GCPO is Det. Saul Cintron.
