Join Virtua Nurses in Celebrating the Year of the Healthy Nurse

The even is set for Thursday, Sept. 28.

The following is a press release from Virtua Health, Inc:

While National Nurses Week is held every May, Virtua recognized its own opportunity to bring nurses together system-wide to network and celebrate all that nurses do for the community to be well, get well and stay well.

Last year, New Jersey Senator Diane Allen (R-Burlington) designated the fourth Thursday of every September as Virtua Nurse Day.

Virtua will celebrate the second annual Virtua Nurse Day on Thursday, Sept 28th from 1 to 2 p.m. at Virtua Health Education Center (HEC), located at 106 Carnie Boulevard, Voorhees, NJ.

This year, the focus will be on the “Year of the Healthy Nurse”, which is the American Nurse Association’s 2017 theme. The American Nurse Association (ANA) describes the Healthy Nurse as “someone who actively focuses on creating and maintaining a balance and synergy of physical, intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, personal and professional wellbeing.”

Virtua nurse Kate Gillespie, BSN, MBA, RN, a keynote speaker, will focus her presentation on this topic.

“Basically, we are focusing on reminding nurses to take care of themselves — as the airlines tell passengers, we need to put the oxygen mask on first before helping others,” Gillespie said.

Virtua hopes to have 600 to 700 attendees at the event. Each session will include educational programs, poster displays, flu shots, virtu’ spa massage chairs, food, poster displays and academic, professional and retail vendors.
