Kresson Elementary School holds ‘Week of Code’
Kresson Elementary School turned an “Hour of Code” into a “Week of Code” from Dec. 7 — Dec. 13 to help celebrate National Computer Science Education Week.
Technology Specialist Lisa Morgan, Library Media Specialist Lisa Richards, and the Enrichment Teacher Anthony Klock teamed up to provide engaging, interactive activities on coding to every class in the school.
Students in grades K-2 began with exploring the App Kodable and followed up with working on Course 1 in their newly created accounts in Code.org.
Grades 3–5 enjoyed presentations and demonstrations from guest speakers, explored various Apps and created their own Code.org accounts.
Buddy classes enjoyed learning together when a fourth grade class paired up with kindergarten students as they worked together to collaborate, problem solve and come up with creative solutions to the challenges that each new level of coding presented.
Students are excited to track their own progress throughout the year as they continue to learn and grow as 21st Century learners and our computer programmers of the future.
