According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional death for children under the age of 14. In an effort to change this statistic, the YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties presents Swim Safe — a free program for children ages 6–12 — at the Burlington-Riverfront YMCA.
“Learning to swim is not only a great way for kids to stay healthy — it’s also a critical safety skill. We encourage area children to take advantage of this free program,” said Tim Kerrihard, President and CEO of the YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties.
Swim Safe prepares children by teaching basic swimming and water safety skills and increasing self-confidence and security while near the water. This program will be available at the Burlington-Riverfront YMCA on the following dates:
• Saturday, Feb. 27, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at 302 Commerce Square Blvd., Burlington.
• Saturday, April 2, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at 302 Commerce Square Blvd., Burlington.
