Harrison Township Police make CDS distribution arrest

Motor vehicle stop results in arrest of Pennsylvania woman

On Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 10:01 p.m., Ptl. Kenneth Rodgers of the Harrison Township Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop on a vehicle for failing to stop at the red light on Lambs Road.

While speaking with the female driver — the only occupant of the vehicle — Rodgers detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. When asked about the odor, the driver of the vehicle, a 57-year-old female from Primos Secane, Pa., advised she had a large amount of marijuana in the vehicle she had just purchased for her husband. The woman then proceeded to open the center console of the vehicle and produced three clear plastic zip lock bags containing marijuana and turned them over to Rodgers. She was then asked to exit the vehicle and was placed under arrest.

A probable cause search further yielded an Aleve bottle containing 40 Xanax pills, two Fluoxetine pills, nine Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine pills, and one Buprenorphine Hydrochloride pill. The search also yielded more than $1,700 in cash.

The driver was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and charged on a criminal warrant with distribution of controlled dangerous substance, possession of prescription legend drugs without a prescription, possession of more than 50 grams of marijuana, and four counts of possession of a schedule I, II, III, or IV substance. She was turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department for transportation to Salem County Jail to be held for Central Judicial Processing Court.

Rodgers was assisted by Ptl. Kevin McGowan.
