For the past five years we have supported the “Go for The Gold” initiative to help raise money for Childhood Cancer. While this has likely gone unnoticed to many of our residents in the past, this year we have made a significant effort to ensure that everyone is aware of our commitment.
It is important to understand the impact cancer has on children and their families and also how underfunded childhood cancer research is.
Did you know that 300,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer each year? In the U.S., one in five will not survive. We want to change that, so we are raising money to find cures. Support these children with a donation to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
This is a collaborative effort that includes our township administration and Recreation Commission; Dr. Missy Peretti and the Harrison Township School District; and local resident Kelly Redkoles. We have placed signs on our Main Street lampposts and displayed a large banner along the fence at the Harrison Elementary School to help broaden awareness.
Our goal is to draw the whole community in to truly Go For The Gold!
