The Mt. Laurel Schools Board of Education met last night to discuss upcoming budgetary plans at its work session meeting.
Assistant Superintendent for Business and Board Secretary Robert Wachter said members of the board are currently meeting with the finance committee to discuss all budget options.
Wachter added that the district is awaiting state aid numbers, which will be released next week.
Wachter said the board is planning on holding a special meeting during the first week of March to discuss the state aid numbers and the budget. The date is not set yet.
Wachter said he is hoping state aid will be higher this year.
“We’re hoping for the best,” Wachter said.

The online survey released earlier this month, which asked the public to weigh in on what budget issues are important to parents, residents and community members, is now closed.
Wachter said Director of Communication Services Marie Reynolds is currently compiling the information garnered from the survey. The information will be presented to the board. Wachter said the survey received a wide range of comments and views.
Wachter also updated the board on the district solar project. He said the solar panels at the Hartford School should be installed by the end of the month.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Hattie Britt Administration Building, 330 Mt. Laurel Rd.
