McGeorge passed away at the age of 94.
Marilyn Amstutz McGeorge of Moorestown was the loving mother of Kathryn, Shelley and Leslie McGeorge. She was the devoted grandmother of Devon and Darren Lauer and beloved wife of the late Chauncey K. McGeorge, M.D. (former radiologist at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and a Haddonfield practice). McGeorge passed away peacefully with her family on July 5.
Born in Orville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Viola Amstutz, and sister of the late Harold, Betty and Marge. She graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in home economics and nutrition and was a dietitian at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital.
She loved her family, her pets, the birds and squirrels at her feeder, cooking delicious meals about which Chauncey proudly proclaimed “you can’t get those out,” baseball and the fightin’ Phils, reading her morning Inquirer, her mid-century modern home, caring for her plants inside and out and design.
She was a gentle, kind, wise and humble lady who will be greatly missed by her family and all who had the chance to know her.
Contributions in Marilyn McGeorge’s memory can be made to the Coriell Institute of Medical Research (www.coriell.org) in Camden. Her husband was a colleague of Lewis Coriell, M.D., and her daughter, Leslie, formerly worked at and with the Institute. The burial will be private.
