Prizes will be awarded in every category of the cock-a-doodle–doo competition.
Registration will begin 10 a.m. on Sept. 9 at Dambly’s Garden Center, located at 51 West Factory Rd., Berlin, Nj. The pageant will start promptly at 11 a.m.
Customers are invited to bring caged, healthy hens to be judged in 3 categories:
- Miss Congeniality
- Best Feathers
- Talent
Prizes are awarded in every category. The grand prize is one year supply of Nutrena NatureWise® Layer Feed (12 bags.)
The bird with the most points will be crowned Miss Hen of Camden County.
After the pageant, there will be three educational sessions:
- “Ask the Chicken Vet” with Molly Hosier (VCA Maple Shade Animal Hospital)
- “Legislation about Chicken in SJ”
- “Winterizing Your Coop”
“Rosebud”, the Therapy Chicken, will serve as the guest of honor.
Folks who don’t have a hen to enter are welcome to come cheer on the feathered beauty queens, enjoy refreshments, snag great deals in store and learn more about backyard chickens.
