Showcase will support small township businesses

Voorhees Township will host an amazing event to support our small
businesses on Saturday, July 13. The Voorhees Small Business Showcase Expo Festival is the brainchild of Lashaun Drew, a community advocate, philanthropist and the owner of The Original Hotdog Factory in the Ritz Plaza. Her nonprofit, “Staying the Course,” has a mission of helping young women between the ages of 10-18 navigate life’s challenges. One way Lashaun does this is with her “Girl with a Grill” program, which feeds those in need or those who are helping others in need at no cost to the recipient. They serve hot fresh food cooked on the spot and Lashaun teaches the youth how to truly serve others with the humility and respect we all deserve, no matter where life has taken
them.

To date, the program has fed over 8,000 people and showed countless teens how to give to
others without expecting anything in return.  The Voorhees Township Committee, the Township Economic Development Department Staff and Administration welcomes the event with open arms and is assisting in deploying key resources. Supporting our small businesses is important as they are the lifeblood of our local
economy.

Lashaun’s company provides opportunities for small businesses, especially those that are
minority owned, veteran owned and women owned, to network and grow. Vendors from various counties in South Jersey, Central Jersey, North Jersey, Delaware, and Philadelphia have already signed up to sell their products and services. This is a free event for the public. When asked why this event was so important, Lashaun stated, “Small business is the backbone of our communities. I’ve witnessed so many businesses close due to lack of exposure and not knowing the resources that are available to help them succeed. When a family takes the leap to open a business, they are aiming to create generational wealth and adding important jobs to our communities. We wanted to bring the resources and the people to them.

Government and Local resources such as the SBA, NJEDA, NJBAC, Community Banks, Procurement con, and other organizations such as our Silver Sponsor PEAC Solutions, will be on site.

This is a day for our families to gather and have a great time supporting these businesses while listening to music, checking out some cars at the SBX Community Cruise in, tasting some awesome food from our food vendors and enjoying a brew or two from the Beer Garden. The kids will love the children play area which includes Soul2solebounce, Control the Walls Video Game Truck, Photo Stand with special effects sponsored by Boyd Photography/Booth Busters and other activities.
