Results of township council meeting

The Gloucester Township Council’s Feb. 12 meeting included a walk-on resolution that expressed the body’s support for state legislation regarding modular or manufactured homes.

The measure focuses on preventing excessive rental increases for residential tenants in the community’s manufactured homes.

During the session’s public portion, community members voiced their concerns about the increases. Dina Hendry of Somerdale inquired about existing caps on rental increases, referencing a past rent stabilization initiative in January 2011. The discussion also touched on vacancy control and criteria for rental increases, shedding light on the intricacies of current regulations.

Township resident Ray Paloro raised questions about ordinance 243, seeking clarification on the terminology used with regard to draining improvements. He also expressed concern about the funding strategy for township park upgrades and sought information on potential grant opportunities before resorting to borrowing.

Council members clarified that the current plans do not include playground structures and rubber surfacing, but are focused on utilizing budgeted funds for upgrades, such as a new playground structure at Catalina Hills.

The Gloucester Township Council meeting on February 12 provided a platform for community members to engage with their local representatives on matters concerning rental regulations and park upgrades.
