The rapidly growing sport of pickleball has drawn a state-of-the-art indoor play facility to Voorhees.
The ACE Pickleball Club will soon open at Eagle Plaza shopping center on Haddonfield-Berlin Road. At 22,000 square feet, it is the third largest tenant in the center.
Pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong and is suited for individuals of all ages and skill levels, a feature that tends to draw players. Its rules are straightforward, but it also offers a competitive experience. The sport is played both indoors and out, on courts that are popping up regularly in South Jersey.
Pickleball can also be social. Its smaller play surface means it can accommodate four courts on a converted tennis surface, bringing players closer together. It’s also a healthy workout, helping to improve balance, agility, reflexes, and hand-eye coordination without excessive strain. That makes it especially appealing for older players.
“I’m absolutely thrilled about the upcoming pickleball facility,” longtime township resident Betty Harris said of ACE. “It’s not just about the game; it’s about building connections within our community.”
ACE Pickleball Club is a national franchise with 61 locations, including recent facilities in Georgia and Indiana. Its management team has experience in sports, having been directly involved in the development and operations of nearly 200 Sky Zone Trampoline Parks.
The Voorhees facility will be located on the far right side of the center, occupying a unit that was previously home to Office Depot. It is positioned next to the Wine Warehouse and in close proximity to the newly opened Salons by JC.
The club is member focused and there are no additional court fees. Unlimited open play and court reservations are included in the membership fee. ACE has professional-grade cushioned courts that provide the same high-quality surfaces found in premium outdoor venues. All courts meet or exceed regulation size standards to ensure optimal spacing.
ACE has partnered with Playsight and Picklehead to provide advanced technology at its venues. The former uses strategically positioned cameras on the courts to capture play, allowing players to livestream their matches or review their performances from smartphones. Pickleheads offers a streamlined process for securing court time and recruiting local players.
The Voorhees center can also accommodate social or corporate events, including Glow-In-The-Dark parties. For more information on ACE, visit www.acepickleballclub.com/voorheessubscribers. Information on how to play pickleball is available at www.pickleheads.com.
