Samaritan wants the lonely to connect

The U.S. Surgeon General recently released an advisory regarding the fact that loneliness and isolation are major health issues for the nation that are linked to serious health conditions and public health risks in older adults.

In partnership with the Jewish Federation of Southern New JerseyAleph Home Care and Older Adults Resource Connections, Samaritan will offer a free social isolation, loneliness and connection information session on Monday, Nov. 6, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Weinberg Commons’ Amy Silvers Community Building on Springdale Road in Cherry Hill.

The presentation will explore multiple risk factors for social isolation and loneliness among older adults and offer strategies on how they can experience better social connections. It will be led by Jillian Racoosin, executive director for the Foundation for Social Connection, who regularly speaks to audiences across the U.S. on the topic.
