County advises voters to look for mail ballots

Burlington County has mailed general election vote-by-mail ballots to residents who requested them.

More than 47,000 of the ballots went to those residents, who make up about 13% of the county’s 357,772 registered voters.

Registered voters interested in voting by mail can still request a ballot from the county clerk’s office. A request form can be found on the clerk’s website at http://www.co.burlington.nj.us/996/Vote-by-Mail-Information.

After Tuesday, Oct. 31, all vote-by-mail applications must be requested in person at the clerk’s office, 50 Rancocas Road in Mount Holly, by 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6. None will be issued after that.

Completed vote-by-mail ballots can be submitted through the post office or placed in one of 28 secure drop boxes in the county. For all drop box locations, go to https://nj.gov/state/elections/vote-secure-drop-boxes.shtml.

Voters may also hand deliver completed mail ballots to the county’s Board of Elections office at the aforementioned location, where there is also a drop box outside. They must be postmarked on or before 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 7, or placed in a drop box at the board of elections before 8 p.m. on voting day.

Mail ballots will not be accepted at early-voting or in-person election polling locations; those who show up at them on Election Day will not be permitted to vote with a machine. Voters can cast their votes if they have a paper provisional ballot, and those with mail ballots should also use them to vote.

Voters who do not receive an expected mail ballot should contact the Burlington County Clerk’s Office at (609) 265-5229.
