The Burlington County Municipal Alliance Program – in partnership with the county Department of Human Services, Prevention Plus of Burlington County, XGLOsive and the towns of Evesham, Hainesport, Cinnaminson, Mount Laurel and Burlington City – will host the first Light the Night XGLOsive Basketball Tour, a family-friendly experience for teens and young adults.
XGLOsive is a spin on traditional sports with glow-in-the-dark equipment and uniforms, black lights and dance music. It’s free to county residents 12 and up.
Since 2019, XGLOsive has partnered with the municipal alliance and Prevention Plus to hold glow-in-the-dark tennis parties. This year marks the first time the groups will host basketball events.
Information will also be distributed about programs and services through the county’s Department of Human Services.
The free XGLOsive Basketball Tour sessions will be held at 8 p.m. Dates and locations are:
- Evesham: Friday, Aug. 11, 1004 Tuckerton Road. Co-hosted by Evesham Municipal Alliance and Evesham police.
- Hainesport: Saturday, Aug. 12, at Hainesport Municipal Park, 1401 Marne Highway. Co-hosted by the RCASA Alliance.
- Cinnaminson: Monday, Aug. 14, at Wood Park, 2321 Riverton Road. Co-hosted by Cinnaminson Township.
- Mount Laurel: Tuesday, Aug. 15, at Larchmont Swim Club, 291 Larchmont Boulevard. Co-hosted by the Mount Laurel Municipal Alliance.
- Burlington City: Thursday, Aug. 17, and Friday, Aug. 18, at Burlington City High School, 100 Blue Devil Way. Co-hosted by the Burlington City police.
The program will feature basketball sessions for youth and adult players. Registration is required and can be done online at BIT.LY/XGLOBASKETBALL.
“We’re spreading the message that you don’t need drugs or alcohol for fun and excitement this summer,” said Joe Conlin, program coordinator for Prevention Plus. “The tennis parties were a big success here, so we’re excited to help XGLOsive branch out into other glow-in-the-dark sports. Space is limited so we’re encouraging people to register right away.”
