Cherry Hill Police asking residents to be safe in final days of holiday shopping season

The police department has released tips for shoppers to remain safe this holiday season.

Cherry Hill Police Department is asking residents to be safe as the holiday shopping season enters its final days this week.

The police department will continue to patrol the township’s shopping district through the end of the holidays to keep an eye out for criminal wrongdoing. Cherry Hill Police also wants shoppers to have a safe experience by following these tips:

  1. If you must store packages in your vehicle, lock them in your trunk.
  2. Be aware of your surroundings and the people around you
  3. If you must shop in the evening, shop with a friend.
  4. Park in well lit areas, and be particularly aware of persons in the parking lot.
  5. Refrain from activating your car’s remote from a distance.
  6. Carry only the credit cards you will need. Don’t carry or flash large sums of cash.
  7. Carry your purse next to your body with the purse flap against you. Men should carry their wallets in their front or inside pockets.
  8. Have your keys ready when exiting stores.
  9. Don’t hesitate to notify store security or police if you see suspicious activity.
  10. If you have to wait for a ride, wait in a busy, well lit area.
  11. Teach children to go to a store clerk or security guard to ask for help if you become separated.
  12. Remove all your packages and belongings from your car when you get home.
  13. Lock your call at all times, even when home.
