Attention Voters: Look out for general election vote-by-mail ballots

After Nov. 1, vote-by-mail applications must be requested in-person

Burlington County will begin mailing General Election Vote-by-mail ballots to voters who requested one later this week so those voters should be on the lookout for their ballot to arrive soon.

Close to 50,000 Vote-by-mail ballots are scheduled to be sent out to Burlington County voters who requested them, amounting to about 14 percent of the county’s 354,700 registered voters.

Registered voters interested in voting with a Vote-by-mail ballot can still request one via the Burlington County Clerk’s website at http://www.co.burlington.nj.us/192/County-Clerk.

After Nov. 1, vote-by-mail applications must be requested in-person at the County Clerk’s Office at 50 Rancocas Road in Mount Holly. No Vote-by-mail ballots will be issued after 3 p.m. on Nov. 7.

Completed vote-by-mail ballots can be submitted through the U.S. Post Office or placed in one of 28 secure drop boxes located throughout the county. For all Burlington County drop box locations go to, https://nj.gov/state/elections/vote-secure-drop-boxes.shtml

Voters may also hand-deliver completed Vote-by-Mail ballots to the Burlington County Board of Elections Office at 50 Rancocas Road. There is also a drop box located immediately outside the building.

“Voting by mail is a simple and easy way for voters to cast their ballot when it’s most convenient for their schedule,” said Burlington County Clerk Joanne Schwartz. “Voters who elect to cast their ballots this way, should be on the lookout for their ballot in their mailboxes. After receiving it, voters should follow the directions carefully and return it one of three ways: by the mail, via a secure drop boxes or hand deliver to our Election Board office.”

Completed Vote-by-Mail ballots must be postmarked or placed in a secure dropbox or hand-delivered to the Election Board office on or before 8 p.m. on the Nov. 8 election date. Completed VBM ballots will not be accepted at polling locations on election day or at early voting sites.

Voters on the VBM list who show up to an early voting site or their regular polling site on Election Day will not be permitted to vote with a machine but will be allowed to vote with a paper provisional ballot.
