Ready, set, shred

By ROBERT LINNEHAN | The Haddonfield Sun
Commissioners have announced the first borough shredding event, which will take place on Saturday, July 25, behind Borough Hall.
Borough residents will be able to shred important and personal documents without fear of identity theft or security problem, borough representatives said.
From 9 a.m. to noon, borough residents can drive behind Borough Hall with personal documents to be shredded by a representative from DocuVault Delaware Valley. Residents can come with as little or as much paper as they have, be it boxes or folders, to be shredded right in front of them.
Mayor Tish Colombi said a second shredding event has already been scheduled for Sept. 26 at the same location. Both events will cost the borough $1,325 each, but the funds will be made available through a recycling grant the county previously awarded Haddonfield.
“DocuVault will provide us with a receipt stating the number of pounds of paper that people brought. This will be figured into our recycling tonnage report that we submit to the county. In an age when people are very sensitive about throwing away papers that contain credit card numbers, bank account numbers, etc., we feel this will provide a safe and secure way to clean out their files and feel confident that their privacy is protected,” Colombi said. “Currently, any shredded paper that people put out for trash goes into the regular trash, because the county recycling facility does not accept shredded paper.”
