The last day to register to run as a candidate for the April 27 BOE elections is this Tuesday, March 8.
BOE members Drew Hansen, Glenn Moramarco, Dennis Kelleher, and Heather Paoli have all verbally committed to running for reelection in the April 27 BOE elections.
Hansen, Kelleher, and Moramarco will likely run for their expiring three-year seats. Paoli has been serving in previous member Michael Joseph Mercanti-Anthony’s seat since the fall of last year and has chosen to run for the remaining one year on the seat.
In a released statement, Hansen said the BOE members look forward to defending their seats and hopefully continuing to serve the Haddonfield School District.
“We each have a strong commitment to the schools and to giving back to the community, and we bring a diverse set of experiences to these tasks. A number of us have children in the district, and we all have different skills related to our various professional experiences,” Hansen said. “We are alumni and newcomers, volunteers and professionals, retired and working. We are a group of productive individuals who work hard to give back to our fellow citizens.”
So far, no other candidates have filed to run for the election against the four incumbent candidates.
Candidates must file a nominating petition with the local school board in order to get their name on the ballot for the election. The current deadline to submit the nominating petition is 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 8.
The election is scheduled for Wednesday, April 27, 2011.
This year’s election is a week later than elections past.
The district recommended that all interested candidates obtain a “School Board Candidate Kit” online at www.njsba.org.
Interested candidates can also visit the district’s Web site at www.Haddonfield.k12.nj.us for additional information.
