Why steal a potted plant?

The following items can be found on file with the Haddonfield Police Department:

• A Hinchman Avenue resident reported to police on May 2 at 6:33 p.m. that she had two workers install a piece of furniture in her home on Friday, April 29. After the workers left she noticed that a gold ring of hers was missing from a closet.

She did not report a value of the ring.

• A Bancroft program associate reported to police on May 4 at 3:06 p.m. to report a fight on the campus. The associate said two adult males, both with brain injuries, were fighting each other in a van.

When the officer arrived on the scene, the incident was finished. Nobody else in the van could report who started the incident and nobody filed an incident report.

• A Homestead Avenue resident reported to police on May 5 at 9:25 a.m. that a large potted plant was stolen from the side track of her house the night before.

The victim said the plant was filled with soil and various flowers. It was valued at $150.
