The Bulldogs capped off their 2011 season this past Friday with a 1–0 shutout over rival Haddon Heights High School, capturing its latest South Jersey Group II championship.
Alex Johnston scored the most important goal of his young athletic career, notching the one score of the championship game to give the Bulldogs the championship. This was the rubber match between the two programs this year, with Haddon Heights winning the first contest 2–0 and the Bulldogs taking the second 2–1.
It was the 17th South Jersey Championship in the history of Haddonfield’s boys varsity soccer program. The last championship was in 2006.
The Bulldogs reached several milestones this year, as the program celebrated its 600th victory in October. Several days after that milestone was reach, the longtime varsity coach Joe Falana won the 600th victory of his career as well.
