Donate your old prom dresses to a Haddonfield sophomore

Attention local high school girls — do you have a fancy dress or two you’ve worn to a dance or prom sitting in your closet?

If you’re never going to wear it again, why not donate it to a local girl in need?

Haddonfield Memorial High School sophomore Grace Baccare is collecting gently worn, short and long, fancy (prom-like) dresses to be donated to students at Gloucester City Junior-Senior High School.

Dresses must be in a dry-cleaning bag with a dry-cleaning receipt attached (required for health reasons).

Dresses can be dropped off at Grace’s house on Sunday, April 1, between 1 and 5 p.m. (320 Chews Landing Road). If you can’t drop your dress, we can pick it up a your house. Please send an email to Grace at [email protected] and let us know when you’d like us to pick up your dress.

Gloucester High is located in Gloucester City, a 15-minute drive from Haddonfield.

It is designated as an Abbott District, one of 31 such school districts in the state deemed among the poorest.

Many girls at Gloucester High are in need of dresses to wear to their prom, which is in May. Any dresses not used by a Gloucester High girl will be donated to Fairy Godmothers Inc., a national organization that collects donated new and gently worn formal gowns and then holds “Prom Fairs” at which high school girls can purchase dresses for $10.

Contact Grace by email at [email protected] with any questions.
