Newly elected Haddonfield Commissioners Mayor Jeff Kasko, Deputy Mayor John Moscatelli and Neal Rochford were sworn in at the commissioners’ meeting on May 28.
The official results of the election were also announced at the meeting. Kasko finished with 2,085 votes, Moscatelli finished with 2,019, and Rochford finished with 1,869, followed by Ed Borden with 1,556, Ken Kouba with 1,124 and Lee Ann Albright with 1,133.
Former Mayor Tish Colombi, who was given a standing ovation for her service to the borough, swore in Rochford.
“I’m very happy to be back to the Borough Hall as one of your elected officials,” Rochford said. He served for four years with Colombi, whom he thanked for her “extraordinary contributions to the community,” in addition to Borden, who served for eight years.
Previously, Rochford was responsible for revenue and finance, which is now Kasko’s responsibility. The next four years, Rochford will be responsible for public affairs and public safety. He also plans to hold weekly public affairs meetings, after which he will share the information with his fellow commissioners.
Kasko and Moscatelli, who will be responsible for public works, parks and property, were sworn in respectively as mayor and deputy mayor.
“I look forward to showing you that the faith you put in me was well founded,” Moscatelli said.
Kasko held back tears as he spoke to residents in attendance about making his family and residents proud.
“It’s a high honor for me and all of us up here to represent the residents of Haddonfield,” Kasko said, thanking Colombi for her years of service and Borden for his confident leadership and, “all of us should be thankful for that.”
“It’s my highest priority to build trust and confidence in one another, commissioners included,” Kasko said, noting that the Bancroft solution could be made together. “I hope we can move forward in the years to come as one united Haddonfield.”
