Marking the 300th anniversary of Haddonfield and jammed packed with local talent from all over, the Tricentennial Fall Festival is set to kick off.
Running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, Haddonfield’s Tricentennial Fall Festival will feature a number of crafters and artists, as well as events throughout the day.
Director of the Haddonfield Information Center Arlene Fiorilli said that a large part of the day is made possible because of the volunteers willing to help.
“Our organization would not be vibrant without our town’s volunteers” Fiorilli said. “The Fall Festival is truly a tribute to Haddonfield’s spirit of volunteerism.”
More than 100 crafters are expected to turn out along Tanner Street and nearby streets, including Jessica Wagner Jewelry, Patrick Michael Carrow, Dan Hershberg of Philly Phaithful and Richard Nolan.
Sidewalks on Kings Highway from Borough Hall to the PATCO station will also be lined with crafters, along with non-profits and representatives from schools and churches from the town.
During the time of the Fall Festival, vehicular traffic on Tanner Street will be suspended.
“Last year, the festival was packed with many people,” Fiorilli said.
In addition, Haddonfield’s Farmers Market will be participating in the event.
Events also include scarecrow making, carriage and trolley rides and the Tricentennial Salute at Kings Court at 11 a.m.
Executive director for Haddonfield’s Tricentennial Maureen Eyles explained that Oct. 19 is the officially recorded completion date for Elizabeth Haddon Estaugh’s home in 1713.
The salute is planned to include the reading of the resolution of the New Jersey Assembly, which recognizes Haddonfield on the 300th anniversary of the settlement of Elizabeth Haddon Estaugh.
“The Tricentennial Festival will offer residents and visitors the opportunity to celebrate and mark this special day,” Eyles said.
Eyles also expressed her gratitude to Holman Enterprises for sponsoring the Fall Festival.
Live entertainment for the festival will include The Pick Up Band, slated to play in Kings Court.
In addition, the iconic Hadrosaurus Foulkii sculpture or “Haddy” will be honored during the Fall Festival. Haddy’s 10th anniversary party will be held on Haddy Lane. During the celebration, representatives will announce the winner of the Flat Haddy contest.
Other Haddonfield organizations will also be represented at the Fall Festival, including the Historical Society of Haddonfield which will be holding a historic quilt display.
The Friends of the Haddonfield Library will also have quilts on display. Working in conjunction with The Little Shop, the Friends of the Haddonfield Library will be displaying quilts of all ages, sizes and styles.
In case of inclement weather, the Tricentennial Fall Festival will be held on Sunday, Oct. 20 from noon to 5 p.m.
