Letter to the Editor: Nancy Sullivan

Borough resident suggests a stiff upper lip during tough times.

“It’s not fair!” has become a familiar refrain, and for good reason.

None of this is fair. You worked so hard to get where you are. Definitely

harder than most, right? Two jobs through college (three afterward), taking care of your kids, taking care of your parents, taking care of your home, and volunteering to help others.

You assumed that if you worked hard — and if you remained a good person — fairness would prevail and you would succeed.

So far, the year 2020 has shown us that fairness isn’t guaranteed. How are you going to handle this disappointment? Well, this is where you have a choice.

Fear and anger are to be expected. Acceptance is definitely not easy. But as our kids look to you for answers, show them that goodness still exists, life’s finest pleasures are simple, and resilience is key.
