The following information was provided by the Harrison Township Police Department.
Motor vehicle crashes:
May 28 – N. Main Street and Stephen Sweeney Way – two vehicles, no injuries
May 29 – Earlington Avenue and Park Drive – one vehicle versus a fire hydrant, no injuries
May 30 – Walnut Lane – two vehicles, no injuries
May 31 – Coyote Run and White Owl Trail – one vehicle versus a traffic sign, no injuries
Investigations and arrests:
May 25 – Units responded to the CVS at 524 Mullica Hill Road for a reported shoplifting. Upon arrival, the actors, two men dressed in black with backpacks, had fled. Store employees were alerted to the theft as the subjects exited the store and the security alarm sounded. The subjects were observed fleeing on foot to Mullica Hill Road where they entered a white Mazda and left the area. The actors got away with $1,064.91 worth of Flonase and Visine products.
May 26 – Ptl. Greg Germschied conducted a motor vehicle stop in the 400 block of Cedar Road. Upon speaking with the driver, a 21-year-old Camden resident, Germschied detected a marijuana odor. Sgt. Robostello of the East Greenwich Twp. Police Department and his K-9 partner, Kilo, were called to the scene for an exterior sniff of the vehicle. Kilo presented a positive indication and a search of the vehicle yielded a sandwich bag containing marijuana, an imitation firearm and a pink stun gun. The Camden man was transported to police headquarters where he was criminally charged with possession of marijuana, possession of an imitation firearm and possession of a stun gun. He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for speeding, failure to signal and driving with a suspended license. He was turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department and transported to Salem County Jail pending a Superior Court hearing.
May 27 – While on patrol, Sgt. Andrew Thomas observed an unoccupied vehicle parked in a far rear parking space at the Wawa at 631 Mullica Hill Road. A random plate inquiry revealed the car was stolen out of Northfield. The vehicle was impounded and Northfield police were notified.
May 27 – Units responded to the 300 block of Clems Run for an Internet harassment complaint.
May 30 – Ptl. Robert J. May conducted a motor vehicle stop on Cedar Road. Upon approaching the vehicle, he observed a passenger in the rear seat to have a brown, hand-rolled cigarette in his lap and suspected marijuana on the seat next to him. A probable cause search of the vehicle and the other passengers led to the following arrests: A 32-year-old Penns Grove man was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams. A 32-year-old Woodbury man was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and several outstanding warrants. A 32-year-old Blackwood man was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun. The driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for speeding and failure to maintain lane of travel. All were released with summonses to appear in court.
