Barbara F. Cardea (née Flade) of Cherry Hill, NJ died peacefully surrounded by her family on January 28, 2025. Age 90. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Donald J. Cardea. Loving mother of James D. Cardea (Frances) and Robert W. Cardea. Devoted grandmother of Jaimie Cardea Higgins and Colton, Katherine, Dylan, Cooper, Kelly and Darby Cardea. Devoted great grandmother of Sawyer Higgins. Dear sister of the late Albert Flade.
Barbara grew up in Leonia, New Jersey before moving to Cherry Hill with her family in 1972. She was a first-grade teacher at the Anna C. Scott Elementary school in Leonia and later resumed her teaching career at the George Washington School in Camden, NJ. Barbara loved traveling and spending time with her friends, children and grandchildren. She was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Cherry Hill where she volunteered her time at the library and the “care and share” shop. Barbara had an unflappable personality and the ability to persevere in the face of adversity. She will be fondly remembered for her artistic ability, thoughtfulness, generosity and her famous corn casserole.
Visitation Saturday February 1, 2025 from 10:30 to 11:45am in Trinity Presbyterian Church, 499 E. Marlton Pike, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034. Funeral service Saturday 12pm. Interment Colestown Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church at the above address.
