Anne Mary Ghegan

Anne Mary Ghegan (nee Long), devoted grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, in Las Vegas, NV, at the age of 85. Anne passed away following a long battle with kidney disease.
Anne was the daughter of Helen Lugat (nee Magee) and the late Morris Long. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband George C. Ghegan, Sister Eileen Long, Sisters-in-law Marlene Harkins (nee Ghegan) and Alberta Brown (nee Ghegan), Brothers-in-law Joseph Brown, Thomas Harkins and several dear friends. She is survived by daughters Dr. Carrie Ghegan-Wijesinghe {Shawn}, and Heather Kozhin (nee Ghegan) {Zaza}, Granddaughters Megan Wijesinghe, Makayla Wijesinghe, and Step-Granddaughter Kalista Kozhin. Anne’s role as a mother and grandmother was paramount, giving boundless love and wisdom to her whole family. Anne is also survived by nephews, Scott Brown, Daniel Brown, and Forrest Urban, along with great-nieces and nephews.
Anne attended Little Flower Catholic High School in Philadelphia and culminated with a BS in Education from St. Joseph’s University. She enjoyed teaching and dedicated 37 years to the Mt. Laurel Board of Education. Postretirement, she moved to Henderson, NV, in 2000. There, she continued teaching as a substitute teacher for the Clark County School District, as well as teaching CCD classes at her beloved St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where she also sang in the choir and was a member of the Women’s Guild. Her spiritual devotion culminated in her Life Profession of the Dominican Laity of Las Vegas at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Newman Center at UNLV.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Earle Funeral Home, 122 W. Church Street, Blackwood, NJ 08012, where her service will begin at 10:30 AM. Interment at Hillcrest Memorial Park will immediately follow. Condolences may be shared at www.earlefuneralhome.com
