
Joseph M. Hollis Jr. ‘Sonny,’ 83, of Blackwood, NJ, passed away on Dec. 27, 2024, surrounded by loving family. He was born July 3, 1941, in United, PA, a beloved son of Joseph Michael Hollis Sr. and Agnes (Magda) Hollis. He graduated from Hurst High School in Norvelt, PA, and then went on to Robert Morris University, earning an A.S. Degree in Business Administration. He was employed as a director of credit for Gimbel’s East, May Company, and Hanover Direct. He was a member of St. Pius X Parish in Mt. Pleasant, PA, and especially loved visiting with his children, grandchildren, and nephews and attending sports activities. In later years, he enjoyed working with special needs adults at the Laurel Highlands Foundation and delivering meals to homebound seniors for the Mt. Pleasant Senior Center. Remaining to cherish his memory are fiancee, Nedra Gilpin; former spouse, Judy Hollis (partner Tom Tupper); sister, Patty Wisniewski (partner Tom Peto); daughter, Kerri Padgett (William); son, Matthew Hollis (Karen); Aunt Marge Magda; niece, Stephanie Hollis; nephews, Ronald F. Hollis Jr., Jason Wisniewski (Racheal), Travis Wisniewski (Brandy), and Brandon Wisniewski (Krystal); grandchildren, Korey Lowe, Bobbie Padgett, Calli Cannon (Steve), Alyssa Hollis, Tessa Padgett, and Jared Hollis; great-grandchildren, Cooper Cannon, Caleb Cannon, Luna Constantine, Savannah Cannon; great-nephew, Cam Wisniewski; and great-niece, Kate Wisniewski. Preceding him in death are father, Joseph Michael Hollis Sr.; mother, Agnes (Magda) Hollis; brother, Ronald Francis Hollis Sr.; sister-in-law, Judi (Orange) Hollis. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m., followed by a memorial mass at 10:00 a.m. on Jan. 18, 2025, at St. Pius X Church in Mt. Pleasant, PA. Interment will then follow at Westmoreland County Memorial Park in Greensburg, PA.
