David A. Curran

David A. Curran, age 80 of Haddonfield, passed away peacefully with Christ on January 14, 2025 after an extended struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was a 1963 graduate of Haddonfield Memorial HS, earned a BA in Chemistry from Rutgers University Camden, including two summers with Rutgers Biology Estuarine Research in Great Bay, NJ and Spent several years in graduate research in Physical Organic Chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania. He worked for many years as an Advanced Chemist in the laboratory of ExxonMobil’s Paulsboro refinery, and later with Valero until his retirement in 2010.
He loved the outdoors, jogging and later walking for miles each day. He enjoyed trips to drive the sand roads of the NJ Pine Barrens or to canoe its rivers, hiking the Delaware Water Gap, and birdwatching in Cape May and the Brigantine National Wildlife Refuge. He left his family with many good memories of road trips, camping, hiking, fishing, biking and exploring the national parks in many different areas of the country.
Most of all he will be remembered for his lifelong commitment to serving others in a multitude of ways as a member and elder of the Gospel Hall Assembly in Pennsauken, NJ. He worked tirelessly to meet the spiritual and practical needs of many in the area over the years, including those in other area assemblies, in particular the Olney Gospel Hall in Northeast Philadelphia. He loved to study the Bible and share what he learned with others in helpful ways.
Predeceased by brothers Everett Curran MD (Virginia) and William Curran (Priscilla), and survived by sister Marjorie Thompson (Thomas) and brother John Curran MD (Christine). Celebrated 58 years of marriage on Christmas Eve with his beloved wife Ruth Strom Curran. Survived by sons David (Susie), Philip (Mindy), Steve (Vidya), and four grandchildren, Timothy (Brenna), Sarah, Bethany, and Maya. Lovingly remembered by nieces, cousins, extended family and many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Wednesday 1/22/2025 from 10 to 11 AM at Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Locustwood Memorial Park in Cherry Hill.
