Proceeds from Clearview Junior Wrestling’s second annual golf tournament will benefit the program itself.

Clearview Junior Wrestling will host its second annual golf tournament on Monday, Sept. 30, at the Pitman Golf Course/Bogey’s.

Check-in will begin at 12:30 p.m. and play at 1:30. The tournament will raise funds for the wrestling program’s upkeep and scholarship opportunities. The event is rain or shine.

Golf will begin with a shotgun start and games will continue until about 5 p.m. Play is tournament style and will be followed by a buffet dinner and awards for the best golfers. Categories include a hole in one and the longest drive. There will also be a putting contest.

“Each golfer will receive a swag bag as well as lunch at arrival, a round of golf, domestic beers during the round and buffet dinner and beer after the round,” said program secretary Megan Battaglia.

Registration is required online at Cheddar Up. Participants – regardless of whether they’re part of the wrestling program – can register as solo players or in groups of four. Those who want to support Clearview without attending the golf tournament can make a donation or register for just the buffet.

Sponsorship opportunities are also open for businesses and are split into tiers: Pioneer Pride, silver, gold and platinum. Each tier provides its own unique bonuses and incentives; gold and platinum sponsors, for instance, get a free foursome. The tournament is a major event on the Clearview Junior Wrestling calendar.

“It’s our biggest and most exciting event this season,” said Battaglia. “We’re looking to raise as much money as possible to help the program. We’re hoping it gets people excited about it and gets our name out there. This all goes out to the kids in order to provide them with the best experience possible.

“We pride ourselves on giving back, and we’ve been trying to do so much more.”
