The Berlin Police Department K-9 unit fundraiser and car show saw its largest turnout yet on Aug. 13, with more than 250 vehicles on display at the Berlin Farmer’s Market.

The event – now in its third year – drew not only car enthusiasts but supporters of the Berlin police force, making it the most successful fundraiser to date for the K-9 unit. A wide array of vehicles was on hand, from classics to modern marvels.

Attendees had the opportunity to meet and greet police officers and their K-9 partners, explore emergency vehicles, and enjoy food vendors, music and memorabilia sales. The event also included awards in multiple car classes, with trophies awarded for first, second and third place, as well as special honors such as best in show, officer choice, and the K-9 Clyde Choice award.

“We had an amazing turnout this year, with over 270 vehicles showing up to support our K-9 unit, our officers and our agency,” Berlin police said in a statement. “Thank you again to all of our sponsors and everyone who came out. It was our best turnout yet.”

The farmer’ market has hosted the fundraiser for four consecutive years. Community support for it is vital, as all proceeds from the event go to the Hometown Foundation, a nonprofit that funds the K-9 unit’s health care, food and equipment.

For the first time, the 2024 fundraiser offered online registration, allowing participants to reserve their spots and purchase K-9 car show T-shirts in advance. On-site registration was also available for $20 per car, with a special offer of $5 K-9 shirts.
