A 52-year-old Pitman man was arrested in the Pine Acres section of the township on Aug. 4 in what police say was likely an isolated domestic incident.
Deptford police were called at 10:04 p.m. to an apartment on the 700 block of Howard Ave., where a male later identified as William Jackson IV had allegedly barricaded himself inside and was armed with a pistol. The apartment’s female resident remained inside.
A Gloucester County SWAT team was activated, and after several hours of negotiations, the female was able to exit the apartment. Jackson surrendered at approximately 2:15 a.m. and was charged with robbery, aggravated sexual assault, burglary and other offenses.
He is being held at Salem County Correctional Facility.
