Township fuel tank system gets upgrade

The Gloucester Township Department of Public Works has successfully upgraded fuel storage infrastructure with a new state-of-the-art, above-ground tank system.

The new split-unit tank has a combined capacity of 20,000 gallons, with 10,000 gallons dedicated to gasoline and 10,000 to diesel. Two new filling stations have also been added, bringing the total to four.

This upgraded tank system will significantly streamline fuel access for multiple departments, including the township police department, township fire companies, Pine Hill Public Works and fire companies and Clementon Public Works and fire companies.

The new system not only enhances efficiency by saving time for employees, but also complies with the latest environmental regulations set by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

The township public works department is responsible for maintaining public safety, cleanliness and operational efficiency throughout the year. Its work encompasses a wide range of tasks, from snow plowing and brush removal to grass cutting, pothole repair, street sign installation and infrastructure restoration.

The department also manages upkeep of the township municipal building, police department, public library, park equipment and senior centers. It can be contacted for issues that include potholes, recycling, leaf collection, playground equipment maintenance and stop and other safety signs.

The public works department is located at 1729 Erial Road in Blackwood. Hours are
Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For further information or to report issues, call public works at (856) 228-3144 or email [email protected].
