Dear All,

Please find this letter as my formal resignation as commissioner from the borough of Haddonfield, NJ.
As many know, I recently sold my home in Haddonfield. I initiated a rental in town at the beginning of April 2024 and changed my address with the New Jersey Department of Motor Vehicles. I was deliberate in my actions and followed the rules and by-laws for elected officials in town; however, for some, this is not good enough.
I have become a distraction to the office, and a detriment to the work my colleagues are doing for Haddonfield. I have enjoyed my time and experienced success tackling the issues I campaigned on including but not limited to:

  1. Finding alternative revenue streams
  2. Formalizing the closure of the Crows Woods’ landfill
  3. Working with our newly formed Recreation Commission on a plan to revamp usage on borough-
    owned fields
  4. Creating a recreation utility to make field maintenance cost neutral to taxpayers
  5. Resolving Bancroft by conditionally approving a developer who is focused on rental apartments
  6. Approving the Borough affordable housing project and finding additional sites throughout town
  7. Resolving vacant and distressed property issues
I have worked with two tremendously hardworking individuals whom I never would have had the opportunity to know and call friends had I not run for office. Sitting beside them on the dais always reminds me just how truly lucky I have been to be elected. We may not always have agreed during our tenure, but we presented our issues and positions in a respectful manner…that is what governing is all about. I am proud of the accomplishments we have been able to achieve by working together.
I have also had the privilege of meeting and working with some amazing people in town. And I want to thank everyone who came together to help me make changes on behalf of – and for the betterment of – Haddonfield. I am grateful and proud to call Haddonfield my home.

My last meeting will be May 28, 2024. It has been an honor to work on Haddonfield’s behalf. Thank you to everyone for your support and assistance over these last three years.

Sincerely,
Kevin Roche
