Township makes a night of it at Citizens Bank Park

The Gloucester Township Police Department honor guard presented the colors at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia last Wednesday, while students from Glen Landing, Charles W. Lewis and Ann Mullen middle schools played the national anthem.

The event was meant as a showcase of talent in township schools and was part of the pre-game ceremonies at the park.

In addition to its ceremonial duties, the honor guard met comedian and actor Shane Gillis, who threw out the first pitch in a game against the Texas Rangers that the Phillies won, 11-4. The home team has had its best start in more than 20 years, with a 37-14 record as of press time on Friday that is also the best in the MLB.

The evening at Citizens Bank Park was a celebration of community, patriotism and sportsmanship meant to highlight the strong bond among the township police department, the school district and the community.
