The announcement is on a pop-up on the district’s website. Geibel will begin her tenure on May 15.

The district had been searching for a “visionary leader” for the pre-K through eighth grade district since the departure of Superintendent Asia M. Michael in October. She had served the district since 2018 and was previously its director of curriculum, instruction and assessment.

Michael L. Harris became interim superintendent on Nov. 1.

Geibel is currently the principal of the Peter Muschal Elementary School in Bordentown and has “a stellar and outstanding reputation as an educational leader,” according to the district’s announcement.

The board of education will make Geibel’s appointment official at a special meeting on Tuesday, April 9, at 7 p.m. in the school No. 2 all-purpose room. She will be introduced to the community after the board approves her contract and the session will include the signing of her contract and an address to the school community.

The new superintendent will then answer several questions prepared by the board that will give her the opportunity to share her vision for the district.
