Celebrate grandparents and their offspring at sculpture zoo

The Haddonfield Outdoor Sculpture Trust (HOST) invites South Jersey’s grandparents and grandchildren to celebrate sculpture month on Grandparents Day at the Children’s Outdoor Sculpture Zoo on Saturday, April 27.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; rain date is Sunday. Activities will include demonstrations by nationally renowned sculptor John Giannotti – creator of Haddy, the borough’s hadrosaurus dinosaur – at noon and 2 p.m. There will also be drawings for jobs as visiting curators at the zoo, free children’s books, animal face painting and photo opportunities with the zoo’s animals.

Since its creation in 2019 by HOST, the Children’s Outdoor Sculpture Zoo has become a significant attraction for preschoolers and elementary-school students in the region. Located in the Tatem Memorial Garden at 338 Kings Highway East, it is the only zoo of its kind in the nation dedicated exclusively to children.

An unnamed new resident will join the zoo family on Tuesday, April 16: a baby tiger.
