Mental Health First Aid Training

The Camden County Board of Commissioners, the county Addiction Awareness Task Force and Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine will hold free mental-health and first-aid training Monday, March 18, and Tuesday, April 17.

The training is geared to teachers, school staff, coaches, parents, employers, police officers, hospital staff, first responders and caring individuals. The event will be held at the Camden County Office of Sustainability, 508-B Lakeland Road, in Blackwood from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both dates.

Mental-health first-aid training will help individuals to:

• Evaluate the impact of early intervention on mental-health challenges
• Understand and identify early signs and symptoms of mental-health issues
• Learn to identify worsening signs and symptoms
• Understand what a crisis is
• Choose appropriate methods of self-care following the application of aid
