Moorestown man faces obscenity charges

A 60-year-old Moorestown resident and tennis instructor faces an obscenity charge involving a minor after he allegedly showed her a naked photograph of himself, according to police and local prosecutors.

Ovidiu V. Dragos was arrested on Feb. 26 and charged with promoting obscene material to the minor, a 15-year-old female, said Cherry Hill and Moorestown police. He also faces charges of child endangerment, promoting obscene material to a minor, stalking and harassment.

Dragos was remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a pretrial detention hearing.

Detectives say Dragos allegedly shared by phone the photo of himself on two separate occasions while he and the minor were at group tennis lessons at the Cherry Hill Health and Racquet Club. Dragos also teaches private lessons there.

Dragos is also alleged to have placed numerous letters, cards, poems, and gifts in the victim’s tennis bag over a two-year period during both private and group lessons in Cinnaminson, Moorestown and Cherry Hill, according to police. Dragos is also a coach for boys and girls tennis at Moorestown High School.
