Local agent Rachel Rowe of Weichert Realtors will host a free seller summit from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 4, to discuss the current real estate market in the South Jersey region.

The talk will be held at Rowe’s Mullica Hill office, 54 South Main St. It is primarily aimed at assisting homeowners who want to sell their homes in today’s market.

“I am inviting people to come for a casual conversation,” she explained. “I will be doing a presentation where I will talk about the local market, competition and listing strategies. A lot of people are nervous about the market and are getting information from the news, which focuses on the national level. It’s not always indicative of what’s going on locally.”

The presentation will also stress factors that affect the market, including supply and demand.

“There are many active buyers right now and not a lot of sellers,” Rowe said. “There’s a lot of demand, but a low amount of supply. It has been low for some time. I just sold a house in East Greenwich (Towship) and several of the buyers that came through had been looking for up to a year.”

According to national statistics, people are staying in their homes for longer periods of time than they did before. The average person remains for about nine years, as opposed to an average of six years in the two decades prior to 2010. High interest rates are also a contributing factor in home sales.

“Interest rates have increased, and many sellers are hesitant to sell a home and take on a high interest rate,” Rowe noted.

She will also discuss the best time to sell a home, the importance of hiring an agent and effective pricing strategies for listing a residence. There will be a Q-and-A session where participants can ask questions about any concerns they have and attendees will receive a gift. Food will be provided.

The talk is free, but requires registration. Contact Rowe at (856) 981-8856 or rrowe613@gmail.com to complete the process.

“I want to be a resource for people to use and ask questions that they may have about the real estate market,” Rowe said.
