Blackwood resident Barbara Lamaina, a Jefferson Health nurse based at its Washington Township Surgery Center, was recently honored with a Daisy Award for Nursing Excellence from the health-care system. Lamaina assisted a fellow RN with the discharge of a patient who was initially apprehensive about returning home without a nurse. Lamaina, overhearing the conversation, knew her co-worker needed support and talked with the patient, who then headed home.
