Burlington County joins planning for America’s 250th anniversary

Special to The Sun
A reenactment of the Battle of Petticoat Bridge was held last month in Springfield. The event was organized by the Revolutionary War Alliance of Burlington County in partnership with the Burington County Commissioners and Burlington County Parks System and featured a full-scale battle re-enactment by members of the 2nd PA/43rd Regiment of Foot, the 42nd Royal Highlander Regiment and the Hessian Jager Corps.

America’s 250th anniversary is coming in 2026 and Burlington County is officially joining the celebration.

The Burlington County Commissioners voted earlier this month to adopt a resolution supporting New Jersey’s plans to commemorate the United States’ founding and both the state’s and Burlington County’s pivotal roles in the American Revolution.

Burlington County’s resolution specifies the county will participate and promote RevolutionNJ, the statewide initiative to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary and New Jersey’s significance.

RevolutionNJ plans to engage all 21 counties and 564 municipalities, along with local schools, businesses and community organizations.
