The bartending event by the Hogs and Heroes Foundation will also include a 50/50 raffle and basket auction.
The Hogs and Heroes Foundation of motorcycle riders will host a celebrity bartending night at American Legion Post 452 in Mullica Hill on Friday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m.
Two members of the foundation will be the “celebrities” pouring drinks. There will also be a basket auction and a 50/50 raffle. The goal of the fundraiser, according to Chrissy “Crazy” Barber, of the New Jersey chapter of the group, is to raise funds for police K-9 units.
“All proceeds from tips, 50/50 and the baskets will be donated to local police K-9s in Gloucester County to ensure they have everything they need to stay safe and help protect the community,” said Barber.
Items suitable for K-9s include crates and trauma kits, many of which went to Harrison police after last year’s event.
“In the past, we have donated a dog crate, training toys, treats and a trauma kit to Dunkin at the Harrison Township Police Department, and hope to do the same at other departments in need of supplies for their K-9,” Barber noted.
In the case of Harrison, the K-9 unit is not supported by the department’s budget and relies on private donations. Those interested in donating can do so by texting K9Dunkin to 41444 or at the department’s website.
This year’s bartending event is the foundation’s third, with the first two described by Barber as successes.
On top of helping local K-9 units, the New Jersey chapter of Hogs and Heroes has also helped raise money for the state’s Military Support Group and People for People.
The foundation has multiple chapters in states such as Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. Their fundraising events are aimed at helping personnel in public safety and the U.S military, as well as wounded warriors.
“We perform honor missions for fallen police officers, firefighters, emergency medical workers, members of the military killed in combat operations and US military veterans,” Barber explained.
“We plan and participate in fun rides and events, and we participate in fundraisers and events of other charitable organizations,” she added. “We strive to set out example of good citizenship for the youth of our nation.”
