Township’s five resolutions for a healthier lifestyle

With the new year, Mantua is encouraging its residents to consider a list of five resolutions to promote a healthier lifestyle.

1. Read more books. Reading is a great activity to keep your brain active, stimulated, and learning. To keep yourself accountable, try starting a book club or picking a monthly book to read with friends.

2. Build a consistent sleep pattern. Healthy and consistent sleeping habits can help you feel refreshed and rejuvenated every time you wake up. Going to bed and getting up at the same time can lead to more productive days ahead this year.

3. Take the stairs. This simple but effective habit can burn just a few more calories every day. Not only can it assist with burning calories, it can also help provide a natural energy boost.

4. Learn a new skill. Whether it is finding an instrument to play, picking up photography or honing in on a previously learned skill, this practice can keep you motivated and occupied. It is also always good for your brain to stay engaged and learn new things.

5. Incorporate healthy movements into your lifestyle. Not all healthy movement means going for a run or working out; it could simply mean going for routine walks, trying some low-impact sports such as pickleball or Frisbee golf, or doing yoga at home. Adding this to your lifestyle can improve cardiovascular health and even cognitive functioning.
