On behalf of Indian Mills Troop 47: Please be advised Saturday, Jan. 13th is designated for their annual community service project of collecting cut Christmas trees. All ornaments, lights, garland, etc. should be removed then place tree out near the street by 8 a.m. on Jan. 13th. Anyone wishing to donate in support is welcome to do so – money raised is used to help with costs of camping trips and/or equipment for the troop. Donations should be secured to the tree base in a plastic bag banded at the bottom. Checks made payable to: Indian Mills Troop 47 Questions: gmaslennikov@gmail.com. Atsion Mansion Lantern Tours

The Atsion Mansion will be open for evening tours each Saturday in January – 13, 20 and 27. Spend your Saturday night in one of the most significant examples of Vernacular Greek Revival architecture in South Jersey. Never “modernized” with plumbing or electricity, the house stands largely as it did when it was constructed in 1826.

Tours are 45-55 minutes and begin outside the mansion at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Tickets for evening tours are $5 per person and can be purchased at the Atsion Office. Tickets can also be purchased over the phone to reserve your spot!

Atsion Mansion is located at 744 US 206, Shamong.

Monday, Jan. 22

The Harlem Wizards, the most interactive, fun, community basketball event in the world is coming to Tabernacle.

The world-famous Harlem Wizards will visit Seneca High School , 110 Carranza Road, on Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. for an evening of great fun and fundraising. The Wizards will play a game against a team of Tabernacle District teachers, principals, and community leaders. The event is a fundraiser for the Tabernacle Home and School Association.

Rutgers Master Gardener course

Interested in becoming a Rutgers Master Gardener and learning more about horticulture? There is still time to sign up for the Rutgers Master Gardeners Course in Burlington County. The mostly online class starts on Tuesday, Jan. 23. Please email your interest to burlingtonmg@njaes.rutgers.edu. Information will be emailed back to you. This course is limited to Burlington County residents only.

The Indian Mills Volunteer Fire Company serving Shamong Township, is currently conducting a sneaker recycling program. Partnering with Got Sneakers!, they will collect and recycle used sneakers and athletic shoes, and return a small donation per pair to the local fire company.

The program is fairly simple. Collect your used sneakers or athletic shoes (must be a matched pair) and drop them off at one of the following collection sites:

  • Indian Mills Volunteer Fire Company, 48 Willow Grove Road (lobby open 24/7).
  • Shamong Township Municipal Building 105 Willow Grove Road (outside the tax collector window.
  • Indian Mills Memorial School 295 Indian Mills Road (front lobby, please refer to the school newsletter for details).
  • Indian Mills Elementary School 112 Indian Mills Road (front lobby, please refer to the school newsletter for details).
  • Crossroads Church of Shamong 445 Oakshade Road.

The Fire Company will handle the logistics of getting the sneakers to Got Sneakers!, who will handle recycling and will send a small donation back to the fire company for all qualifying pairs.
