The Delran Green Team held a New Year’s Day hike, cleanup and bonfire at Lake Lonnie. Councilman Lynn Jeney mentioned the event at council’s reorganization meeting.
Delran Township Council had its reorganization on Jan. 2 as members looked forward to working together.
Tyler Burrell was elected to serve another year as council president, while Thomas Lyon was elected vice president.
“Thank you for the vote of confidence and I’m looking forward to leading the council once again,” Burrell said. “I look forward to a productive year working with the mayor’s office, administration and council.
“We’ve got a big list of things to do this year, and I’m looking forward to getting those things done.”
Mayor Gary Catrambone said the beginning of the new year is a time “we look at our successes and a time we review what we might need to reexamine.”
“I look forward to working with our professionals and certainly our council as we move forward,” he added.
Councilman Lynn Jeney noted in his report that starting in February, council will again recognize veterans on a monthly basis.
The township’s Green Team held a successful New Year’s Day hike and bonfire at Lake Lonnie, with help from the Delran fire department.
“Over 50 residents attended,” Jeney recalled. “Not only did they show up, they did a tremendous cleanup. There were 15 huge bags of trash that was picked up.”
During the business section of its meeting, council approved a number of resolutions, including the mayoral appointment of Malamut & Associates LLC as the township solicitor, CME Associates as engineer, Parker McKay P.A. as bond attorney, Marmero Law LLC as labor attorney, Kathleen McGill Gaskill as tax attorney, Platt Law Group P.C. as the affordable-housing attorney and Weiner Law Group LLP as conflict/special attorney.
Council also adopted its meeting schedule for 2024, including a work session scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 23.
