“I look forward to your energy and I am excited for you to join our team,” Mayor Charles “Chuck” Watson told the new members as they took their seats on the dais.

They immediately got to work, motioning and seconding the unanimous choice of Watson to his second term as mayor. Donna Symons was elected his deputy.

“I’m excited to be mayor again,” Watson said. “There are a lot of things in the conversations we have had over the last few months that we want to accomplish, including new subcommittees specifically meeting with the schools and some other things … to interact with the community more.”

Watson added that if members make residents and businesses come first, “we can accomplish great things this year.”

Council also adopted a 2024 calendar of meeting dates, including its next session at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at the public safety building, 91 Union St.
